Building defects

Building defects can arise through one or more of the following;

  • Incorrect design and specification
  • Product failure
  • Poor installation
  • Inappropriate maintenance

Consequently, it is the understanding of building construction with investigative skills that are needed to identify the cause and the appropriate remedial measures. An initial inspection will investigate the situation and if possible identify the cause of the problem with alternative solutions. In some circumstances it may not been feasible to identify the cause so it would be necessary to undertake further exploratory investigations which can often be intrusive.
